Foundations of Caring, Understanding and Services (FOCUS) was formed as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit by a Grass Roots group consisting of members from Upton, Osage and Newcastle in 1983. They recognized a need for local help for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking situations.
The FOCUS office is located in Newcastle, the county seat http://newcastlewyo.com/newc/ . It has had a few different office locations but has served victims in Weston County without fail for over 25 years. FOCUS is governed by a board of directors and managed by an executive director and staff.
FOCUS relies heavily on trained volunteer advocates that man the 24/7 on call schedule along with staff members. There are also many volunteers that assist with different aspects of FOCUS operations that are just as invaluable.

Born in Pennsylvania, my family moved to Wyoming in the late 70’s when I was 4 years old. This was of course during one of the area’s energy booms, so we found ourselves living in Campbell County, north of Rozet about 40 miles. I graduated from Campbell County High School in 1994 and moved to Washington shortly thereafter. While in Washington, I studied Business Administration and worked for an independent insurance agent. I was soon recruited to work for a local State Farm office. There, I worked as the marketing and life insurance sales manager. After working there for 5 years, I was recruited to work for Edward Jones. I was a Branch Office Administrator and set up five offices, trained staff, mentored existing staff, and set up the region’s monthly newsletter. During this time, I continued my education in Business Administration at Peninsula Community College in Port Angeles, WA. I eventually was able to work into the position of Investment Representative for Edward Jones. In 2005, I moved back to Wyoming to be with my family. Here, I not only oversee the daily operation of FOCUS as Executive Director, but I also own and operate my own business, Investment Centers of America, Inc. located within First State Bank of Newcastle. My community involvements are numerous. However, I am most proud of my position with FOCUS. I became involved as a Board Member of FOCUS in December of 2005. It is my deep concern for our community’s children and families as a whole that drives me in working for FOCUS. I firmly believe that children learn what they live, so if we can break this cycle of violence our children can grow to have healthy relationships as adults. I would like to encourage all visitors to our facility or our website to consider helping in this cause. Everyone has something to give, whether it be a little time, a basic needs item such as toiletries for a victim in need, or a monetary donation. Thank you for your interest in FOCUS!
